The Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA)

The Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) is an international nonprofit association dedicated to the preservation and use of moving image media. AMIA supports public and professional education and fosters cooperation among the individuals and organizations concerned with the acquisition, preservation, description, exhibition, and use of moving image materials. IMES is a Preservation Partner of AMIA and annually participates and/or presents in their Digital Asset Symposium and conference.

The Audio Engineering Society (AES)

The Audio Engineering Society (AES) is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. AES is an international organization that unites audio engineers, creative artists, scientists and students worldwide by promoting advances in audio and disseminating new knowledge and research. AES hosts multiple international in-person and virtual events annually and IMES recently joined a panel in their Music Production Archiving Session: “How You are Protecting Legacies: Topline Results from the Recording Academy® P&E Wing® and Iron Mountain Entertainment Services Survey.”

The GRAMMY Museum

The GRAMMY Museum

The GRAMMY Museum’s mission is to explore and celebrate the enduring legacies of the creative process behind all forms of music through immersive and interactive exhibits and essential music education programs. As their Official Archive Partner, IMES stores all of their archived material in our Smart Vault, providing security, ease of access and searchability for their musical content, and ensuring performances like Melissa Etheridge, Ringo Starr, Mavis Staples and others are available for future generations. Together, IMES and the GRAMMY Museum produce specially curated videos in, “Live From the Vault,” that features some of the Museum’s most iconic or rarely seen footage, including interviews with Mavis Staples, Melissa Etheridge, Ringo Starr and more.

The Producers & Engineers Wing

The Producers & Engineers Wing is a division of the Recording Academy that advises the Academy on technical matters related to recording and also addresses matters of concern to producers, engineers, remixers, manufacturers, technologists, and other related professionals. Recently, our organizations produced an event entitled, “Protecting Legacies: The Art, Science and Value of Musical Archives.” The cross-sectional group of artists, engineers, managers, attorneys, archivists and publishers discussed the importance of educating artists and their teams about the importance of thoughtful music archiving, and to ensure they are able to realize the full value of future monetization opportunities.

IMES co-leads of the Archive Workgroup and collaborates with other thought leaders in the entertainment industry.
